By Our Reporter

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded the disqualified APC governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Abimbola Olajumoke in prison custody for one month over allegations of defamation, cyberbullying and kidnapping in a case instituted by the Chief Executive Officer of YSJ Agro-Allied Limited, Mrs. Yemisi Joluwe.

The Magistrate Court had earlier granted Olajumoke bail but subsequently revoked the bail after she failed to appear in court at the next adjourned sitting, leading to her arrest and detention and further arraignment in court.

In his submission, counsel to the Defendant, Ayokunle Odunayo Okunade said the Court has the power to grant bail because the charges are bailable offences, adding that the charges should not be meant to execute the defendant.

On the contrary, Police Prosecutor, Samson Osobu urged the court to consider the gravity of the offence, saying such grave offence, under Section 14 of the Cybercrime Act, as amended 2024 categorically stated that it’s only Federal High Court that has the right to grant bail on such auxiliary matters.

He added that the Court has the power not to jail the defendant but to keep her safely in Correctional Centre so that she won’t be able to jump bail.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ordered her remand at the Ekiti Correctional Centre and adjourned her case to 17th September, for further hearing
